Apogee

The point in an orbit where the spacecraft is farthest from Earth.

Apogee is a key orbital parameter for mission design and debris assessment.

Importance

  • Defines maximum altitude
  • Affects orbital lifetime
  • Influences debris environment

For GEO transfer orbits, the apogee is at GEO altitude (~35,786 km).
