Jamming
The deliberate transmission of interfering signals to disrupt or deny a satellite uplink, downlink, or navigation signal.
Jamming overwhelms a legitimate signal with interference, degrading or denying communications or navigation. It can target user downlinks, command uplinks, or GNSS reception, and ranges from crude broadband noise to sophisticated targeted techniques.
Mitigations include spread-spectrum waveforms, directional and nulling antennas, link redundancy, and rapid detection and reporting. Harmful interference is also regulated through ITU mechanisms.
