Penetration Testing

Authorised, simulated cyber-attacks against a system to identify exploitable vulnerabilities before adversaries do.

Penetration testing is a controlled exercise in which skilled testers attempt to breach a system using the techniques of real attackers, with permission and defined scope. The goal is to find and document exploitable weaknesses so they can be fixed.

For space operators, testing can span ground-segment IT, mission control systems, and the interfaces to spacecraft. Regular testing supports the risk-management and continuous-improvement expectations under NIS2 and ISO 27001.
