Insurance & Liability
Liability insurance with a minimum sum insured of EUR 60 million per insured event (Outer Space Act, § 4(4)). For activities in the public interest — science, research or education — the minister may set a lower sum or waive the requirement, taking into account the risk and the operator's financial strength; no insurance is needed where the Federation itself is the operator.
Key Differences from EU Space Act
Austrian space law is compatible with EU frameworks. Updates may be needed for specific EU Space Act provisions regarding cybersecurity and supervision.
